What do you use nasal rinse salt for?

You use nasal rinse salt when your cavities are clogged or inflamed. So at:

  • Acute and chronic sinusitis and sinusitis
  • Hay fever, dust mite allergy and allergy to animals (cat, dog, horse, etc.)
  • After nose surgery
  • With a cold
  • Running nose
  • Upper respiratory complaints due to asthma
  • Headache (pain points on the side of your head or above your nose)

When you rinse your cavities with the salt (via a nasal douche), they open again. You will be able to breathe again and your complaints will disappear. It even works well against tough, stuck mucus.

Nasal rinsing also helps against snoring, when this is caused by a swollen nasal mucosa.

How often should I rinse my nose with salt rinse?

How long and how often you should rinse your nose depends on the indication and severity of your complaints. The overview below is a useful guideline. Of course, this can be deviated from in consultation with your doctor:

  • Acute rhinosinusitis: 2 – 4 times a day, during the period of complaints
  • Chronic rhinosinusitis (chronic sinusitis)
    • In acute phase: 4 – 6 times per day
    • Maintenance phase: 1 – 2 x per day
  • Post-operatively: 4 – 6 times a day, at least 2 – 3 weeks after the operation (possibly longer in consultation with your doctor)
  • Allergic rhinitis: 2 – 4 times a day, during the period of complaints

What does rinse salt contain?

NasoFree nasal rinse salt contains sodium chloride (NaCl) and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3). This combination – in combination with water – provides an extra cleaning effect.

This composition also has an important advantage over a solution containing only salt. Because a saltwater solution can irritate, damage or inflame your nasal mucosa. This risk is even greater when you use salt with iodine.

Nasal rinse salt is much softer and therefore more comfortable.
