Expiration date of Sensonics Smell Tests

upsit smell identification test

The Sensonics smell tests such as the UPSIT smell test and B-SIT have a expiration date of 6 months at the moment of production. This means that the expiration date at the moment of delivery is shorter, but of course we always do our best to ship tests with the longest expiration date possible. This shall be around 5 months at the moment of delivery.

The expiration date is printed on the outside of the smell tests.

LOT number and barcode printed on the package?

In order to be compliant with FDA, and EU regulations bar codes are required on all medical device products that we sell as of June 2025. This is implemented since the beginning of 2025. This barcode is a traceability factor for EU, FDA and the manufacuter/ distributor. This barcode contains the lot number which consists of product code, operator who assembled, operator who qc’d and date of manufacture/production.

For new packages – the lot # is contained in the bar code (i.e- 012417250311) – the 6 month expiration date is printed on the envelopes as Month, Day, Year

For older packages- the lot# is stamped on the inside of the back covers of the UPSIT booklets (1 number stamp, and a month/number stamp), and expiration date is printed on the envelopes as Month, Day, Year.
